*As a Red Mage, speak to Curilla in Chateau d'Oraguille.
**Note: If The General's Secret is active in your quest log, you may have to complete it before Curilla will offer you Peace for the Spirit. This is a known bug as of Jan. 30, 2023.
**Note: You don't have to be RDM for the remainder of this quest.
*Go to Sharzalion located in the Lion Springs Tavern (K-5)/(K-6) in Southern San d'Oria (near the Mog House).
*Head to Fei'Yin in the Beaucedine Glacier.
*After you enter Fei'Yin, a Notorious Monster named Miser Murphy spawns near the Dry Fountain at (H-8) on the first floor. He is a ghost NM with an occasional additional effect of drain on his regular melee attacks. This drain can do upwards of 600 damage to a player, restoring the NM's HP in the process. Miser Murphy cannot be bound easily. This can be a very hard fight.
*Once defeated, the Guardian Statue drops a Nail Puller. Trade the Nail Puller to the Oaken Box for a cutscene.

Notes
Fishing will help you immensely in leveling cooking to 60 with minimal costs. If you dont fish you can buy a lot of fish on the AH. For some reason on Horizon people sell fish for less than NPC prices on the AH??? No idea why but hey take advantage of their stupidity. Feel free to move up to the next synth if you are ok with breaks or if the mats are harder to come by for certain items in order. 5 or less gap will give skill on breaks.

Dont buy Distilled Water on the AH. Its 4x more expensive for no reason. Dont be lazy, there is a vendor everywhere that sells them for 120g stack.

Amateur
0 - 6 Hard-Boiled Egg
* Use Advanced support for at least the first level or two which should go quick.

6 - 9 Pet Food Alpha
* NPC results

Recruit
9 - 11 Sliced Sardine
* This is where fishing comes in. You can skip straight to the next item on the list if you have Cod instead of Sardines

11 - 13 Sliced Cod
* NPC this as long as you want for decent gil

13 - 19 Pet Food Beta
* NPC results

19 - 20 Selbina Butter
* Save this for the next bridge synth. Cost depends on price of Crystals (Feb 17 patch nuked crystal price)

Initiate Rank Test Item: Pea Soup
Initiate
20 - 22 Baked Popoto
* Use up the Selbina butter you made until you hit alteast 21. AH the leftover

22 - 29 Insect Ball
* Advanced Support. This is a money maker sell it all on AH. It moves extremely fast since 75% of Horizon is fishing for Moats it seems.

Novice Rank Test Item: Vegetable Gruel
Apprentice Rank Test Item: Meat Mithkabob
Apprentice
39 - 46 Pickled Herring
* NPC results

46 - 50 Apple Pie
* Switching the egg increases the cap of the synth.
* These will sell eventually but you may just want to NPC them depending how fast you want to move onto the next synth.
* Can be skipped if you want to 6 gap the Crayfish Balls.
* You WILL lose a LOT of money on these.

Journeyman Rank Test Item: Apple Pie
59 - 60 Yagudo Drink
Duo'd with a 52PLD while I was 59 NIN. Incredibly hard fight, do not underestimate. Wiped twice. Hard to pop spawns without insta losing all shadows because they infinite AoE. Dragged to den of rancor, had two despawn and 2v1'd the monk. Zoned when he 2 houred which is near impossible because he will heal back up. Has an obscene amount of health. Attempted to have pally sentinel > 2 hour > Open > I close and quintuple MB with 2 hour. Did not work, they instantly aoe all shadows off. Right before this, I one shot the 52 PLD quest (it had 2k hp). On this fight, it took me about 30 minutes of straight fighting him to kill him. We abused the zone a LOT and I went through two stacks of shihei. I suggest just bringing a 75 or be prepared for a serious challenge. (I had near BiS gear with full tp/ws/nuke sets, 600 ele tools, 300 shihei, full stacks of slow+blind) Tip: Forget about doing melee dps damage to him. He must have serious resistance. Like I said, before this I hit a 1k+500+MB on the 52PLD AF quest and one shot the NM. On this quest, it scratched him. My ninjutsu was doing like ~20 damage each and was actually making a difference. If I were to do this again, I would pull to zone > pray the two despawn or walk far away > slow > blind > paralyze (none will hit but sometimes they do) > keep shadows up or die > Spin wheel for the full fight.

*After completing Sharpening the Sword, speak with Ailbeche ( in Northern San d'Oria) as a level 50+ Paladin and he'll request a Giant Shell Bug.
*Talk to Exoroche at () in Helbort's Blades shop in Southern San d'Oria for a cutscene.
**You are not required to be a Paladin after this step.
*Return to Ailbeche who tells you Giant Shell Bugs can be found in Crawlers' Nest.
*Obtain one or several Giant Shell Bugs. You can buy them on the AH, or follow the steps below.
**From the entrance to Crawler's Nest, use exit A at ().
**On map 2, find the small alcove at (). The ??? is tucked away in the far end. Check it to spawn Dreadbug, which will drop 1 Giant Shell Bugs.
*Trade the Giant Shell Bug to Ailbeche to initiate a cutscene in which he'll tell you where you can catch the "big one". You will still have the Giant Shell Bug after the cutscene.
**If you have multiples and you are skilled at fishing up monsters, you can skip this step until after you fish up Odontotyrannus.
*At this point if you're not experienced with fishing it's advised to look over the Fishing page to get an idea on how to know when a monster/NM has bitten the hook, and how to deplete its stamina when it does bite.
**Tip: When you get a bite, do NOT press enter/confirm before depleting all stamina or you will lose the catch and your bait. Do NOT press enter/confirm to let a catch go when you've hooked something other than the NM or you will lose your bait. Wait it out, and the catch will eventually escape and your bait will be preserved.
**Note: Quest Bearer has to do the fishing. Can take multiple Tries.
*Obtain a fishing rod "for Big Fish", then head to the small pond on map 2 of Castle Oztroja. Prepare for a fight, and bring a friend or two if necessary.
**From the entrance, go through the Brass Door at () on map 1. To avoid the trapdoor, throw one lever and then quickly move backwards.
**On map 3, use exit F at ().
**On map 7, use exit I at ().
**Head to (/) on map 2 to find a pool of water with Oozes in it.
*Fish up the NM Odontotyrannus using your fishing rod and Giant Shell Bug. You will lose your bait, and the NM will appear, ready to lay a beatdown on you. Upon victory it will drop Odontotyrannus (Item).
**Note: Odontotyrannus has been nerfed on Horizon. It has about ~2000 HP or less.
*Return to Northern San d'Oria and trade the Odontotyrannus to Ailbeche. (Optional)
**If you did not trade a Giant Shell Bug to Ailbeche before, do it now.
*Trade the Odontotyrannus to Zaldon () at the Fisherman's Guild in Selbina to receive the KeyItemKnight's Boots. (Zaldon may not accept the fish while Under the Sea quest is active, finish "Under the Sea" to allow Zaldon to accept Odontotyrannus)
*Head back to Northern San d'Oria and speak to Ailbeche again.
*Go to Southern San d'Oria and talk with Exoroche again.
*Go to Chateau d'Oraguille in Northern San d'Oria and check Prince Trion's room at ().
