You can talk to an Allegiance Changer NPC in the nation you wish to switch to in order to change your [[allegiance]]:

==Cost==
The cost to change allegiance depends on the new nation's current rank in [[Conquest]]:
*1st Place in Conquest - 40,000g
*2nd Place in Conquest - 12,000g
*3rd Place in Conquest and Ties for 2nd - 4,000g (Please see discussion page - Divercat 03/01/2024)

==Notes==
*The first time you switch to a nation, you have [[Rank]] 1 and no [[Conquest Points]] in that nation.
**If you return to a nation, you get your previous [[Rank]] and [[Conquest Points]] (as earned under that nation) back.
**Above cost '''does''' pertain to changing back to another nation. (Example: Changing back to San d'Oria Rank 10, while San d'Oria is first in conquest, will still result in a 40,000g fee.)

*Any rewards from missions done in other nations are retained when you switch (for example, you will keep your [[Airship pass]] and [[Dynamis]] access).
**However, note that if you were previously allowed access to [[Chateau d'Oraguille]], the [[Heavens Tower]] stairwell, or the President's Office in the Bastok [[Metalworks]] before switching to a nation in which you do not, you will not keep that privilege and will only regain access through mission progress.
***If you recently Switched Nations, you will not get HAAP points for helping others if you are under said nation mission. EX: If you are Rank 3 and helping others do 5-1 you will receive 0 HAAP POINTS. (Tested twice with Character with rank 6 that switched to Sandoria rank 3)

*Players may only use the teleport service to teleport to any [[outpost]] for which they have completed a supply mission in their current nation.
**For example, if you are from [[San d'Oria]] and have completed the supply quest for [[Ronfaure]], then switch to [[Bastok]], you will have to redo the supply quest for Ronfaure. However, if you switch back to San d'Oria you will have that outpost warp again.

*If you have a mission active from your current nation, you will not be able to change allegiances.

*If you are [[Rank]] 5 in any nation, even if you do not have an active mission, you will not be able to change allegiances. Instead, you will be told your nation is in trouble and your application can not be accepted.

== Walkthrough ==
*After completing [[Sharpening the Sword]], speak with [[Ailbeche]] ({{Location Tooltip|area=Northern San d'Oria|pos=J-9}} in [[Northern San d'Oria]]) as a level 50+ [[Paladin]] and he'll request a [[Giant Shell Bug]].
*Talk to [[Exoroche]] at ({{Location Tooltip|area=Southern San d'Oria|pos=K-7}}) in Helbort's Blades shop in [[Southern San d'Oria]] for a cutscene.
**You are not required to be a [[Paladin]] after this step.
*Return to [[Ailbeche]] who tells you [[Giant Shell Bug]]s can be found in [[Crawlers' Nest]].
*Obtain one or several [[Giant Shell Bug]]s. You can buy them on the AH, or follow the steps below.
**From the entrance to [[Crawlers' Nest/Maps|Crawler's Nest]], use exit A at ({{Location Tooltip|pos=H-8|area=Crawlers' Nest|map=Map 1}}).
**On map 2, find the small alcove at ({{Location Tooltip|pos=H-9|area=Crawlers' Nest|map=Map 2}}). The ??? is tucked away in the far end. Check it to spawn [[Dreadbug]], which will drop 1 [[Giant Shell Bug]]s.
*Trade the [[Giant Shell Bug]] to Ailbeche to initiate a cutscene in which he'll tell you where you can catch the "big one". You will still have the [[Giant Shell Bug]] after the cutscene.
**If you have multiples and you are skilled at fishing up monsters, you can skip this step until after you fish up [[Odontotyrannus]].
*At this point if you're not experienced with fishing it's advised to look over the [[Fishing]] page to get an idea on how to know when a monster/NM has bitten the hook, and how to deplete its stamina when it does bite. ''Tip: When you get a bite, do NOT press enter/confirm before depleting all stamina or you will lose the catch and your bait. Do NOT press enter/confirm to let a catch go when you've hooked something other than the NM or you will lose your bait. Wait it out, and the catch will eventually escape and your bait will be preserved.''
***Quest Bearer has to do the fishing. Can take multiple Tries.
*Obtain a fishing rod "for Big Fish"(<s>any will do</s>, Bamboo / Halcyon Fishing Rod's claims the nm is too large and slips away), then head to the small pond on map 2 of [[Castle Oztroja/Maps|Castle Oztroja]]. Prepare for a fight, and bring a friend or two if necessary.
**From the entrance, go through the Brass Door at ({{Location Tooltip|area=Castle Oztroja|pos=I-8|map=Map 1}}) on map 1. To avoid the trapdoor, throw one lever and then quickly move backwards.
**On map 3, use exit F at ({{Location Tooltip|pos=G-7|area=Castle Oztroja|map=Map 3}}).
**On map 7, use exit I at ({{Location Tooltip|area=Castle Oztroja|map=Map 7|pos=I-7}}).
**Head to ({{Location Tooltip|pos=H-8|map=Map 2|area=Castle Oztroja}}/{{Location Tooltip|area=Castle Oztroja|map=Map 2|pos=H-9}}) on map 2 to find a pool of water with Oozes in it.
*Fish up the NM [[Odontotyrannus]] using your fishing rod and [[Giant Shell Bug]]. You will lose your bait, and the NM will appear, ready to lay a beatdown on you. Upon victory it will drop [[Odontotyrannus (Item)]].
*Return to [[Northern San d'Oria]] and trade the [[Odontotyrannus (Item)|Odontotyrannus]] to [[Ailbeche]]. (Optional)
**If you did not trade a [[Giant Shell Bug]] to Ailbeche before, do it now.
*Trade the [[Odontotyrannus (Item)|Odontotyrannus]] to [[Zaldon]] ({{Location Tooltip|pos=H-9|area=Selbina}}) at the Fisherman's Guild in [[Selbina]] to receive the {{KeyItem}}[[Knight's Boots]]. (Zaldon may not accept the fish while [[Under the Sea]] quest is active, finish "Under the Sea" to allow Zaldon to accept Odontotyrannus)
*Head back to [[Northern San d'Oria]] and speak to [[Ailbeche]] again.
*Go to [[Southern San d'Oria]] and talk with [[Exoroche]] again.
*Go to [[Chateau d'Oraguille]] in [[Northern San d'Oria]] and check [[Prince Trion]]'s room at ({{Location Tooltip|area=Chateau d'Oraguille|pos=H-7}}).
**If your job is Paladin, this cutscene will also immediately start the next quest [[Under Oath]].
