Some throwing items, such as boomerangs and chakrams, return when thrown. Others are one-use items, and once thrown are gone.

While a large number of jobs have innate throwing skill, only [[Ninja]] possesses a decidedly high proficiency in throwing skill. [[Ninja]] is also the only job capable of using the shuriken throwing weapons, well known for their very high base damage and low delay. Shuriken themselves were typically limited in availability and often prohibitively expensive in price to make for an effective weapon on the battlefield, however, HorizonXI has taken steps to remedy this by updating the recipes and allowing them to be stored in pouches, similarly to how arrows can be quivered. For most other jobs, throwing weapons are used as a means of pulling via returning weapons such as boomerangs.
