Pathos refers to special penalties and restrictions encountered in certain Treasures of Aht Urhgan content.

In Nyzul Isle Investigation, Pathos may be applied when the party fails an Archaic Gear restriction. Pathos effects may restrict actions, reduce attributes, reduce remaining time, or reduce Token rewards.

Nyzul Isle Investigation

Some Nyzul Isle Investigation floors may include an Archaic Gear restriction in addition to the normal floor objective.

Restriction	Penalty Trigger	Notes
Avoid discovery by archaic gears	Being detected by an Archaic Gear	Claiming or attacking the gear before it detects the party may avoid the penalty.
Do not destroy archaic gears	Defeating an Archaic Gear	Aggro alone may not trigger the penalty.

Possible Effects

Pathos effects in Nyzul Isle Investigation may include the following:

Effect Type	Description	Notes
Attribute reduction	Reduces one or more player attributes.	The affected stat appears to vary.
Magic restriction	Prevents use of certain types of magic.	May affect only specific magic skills or categories.
Ability restriction	Prevents use of certain job abilities.	The affected ability category may vary.
Weapon skill restriction	Prevents use of weapon skills.	May apply to the party after a gear restriction is failed.
Time reduction	Reduces the remaining mission time.	Exact reduction should be verified on HorizonXI.
Token reward reduction	Reduces final Token reward.	Applied after the run ends.

Avoiding Pathos

• Read the floor restriction carefully after examining the Rune of Transfer.
• If the restriction is to avoid discovery, pull or claim Archaic Gears before they detect the party.
• If the restriction is to avoid destroying gears, do not kill Archaic Gears.
• Communicate gear restrictions clearly before moving through the floor.

Salvage

In Salvage, the Pathos of Alzadaal refers to the restrictions placed on players when entering Salvage areas.

Salvage Pathos is removed by using imbued items, also known as cells. See Category:Salvage for Salvage-specific Pathos and cell details.
