Historical Background
Atropos is one of the three Fates in Greek mythology, beings who created, measured, and cut the threads of life which determine the existence of every being, mortal and immortal. It is said even the gods feared the Fates. Atropos was the oldest of the trio, being depicted as an elderly woman, and was the one who cut the thread of life with a pair of shears, killing that person (in other accounts, all three Fates are old crones). Her name means "inevitable" or "inexorable". The other Fates are Clotho and Lachesis, whose names adorn the other two orbs which can be obtained for BCNMs with 30 Kindred's Seals.
