Castle Zvahl sits atop a mountain on the western border of Valdeaunia, and was the lair of the Shadow Lord during the Crystal War. It currently serves as the stronghold for the Kindred beastmen.

Story
In the FFXI storylines, the Throne Room within Castle Zvahl is the battlefield where adventurers must defeat the resurgent Shadow Lord as part of mission 5-2. It is also the site of the final battle of Where Two Paths Converge, the final limit break battle for Scholars, and for Smash! A Malevolent Menace, the final battle of the A Moogle Kupo d'Etat add-on pack.
