Entry
- Speak with Rytaal in the Commissions Agency to receive an Imperial Army I.D. Tag.
- Speak with Bhoy Yhupplo at L-9 and select Golden Salvage.
- The Imperial Army I.D. Tag is exchanged for Ilrusi Assault orders, and the temporary Map of Ilrusi Atoll is issued.
- Travel to the Ilrusi Atoll Staging Point at G-5.
- One party member must obtain an Assault Armband from the staging point's Immortal.
- Examine the Runic Seal to enter the Assault.
- Each participant receives Reef Fireflies upon entering.
Map and Objective
The entire mission takes place on Ilrusi Atoll Map 8.
| Location | Purpose |
|---|---|
| H-8 | Entry point |
| Throughout Map 8 | Twelve Cursed Chests are distributed across the mission area. One contains the golden figurehead; the other eleven can become Mimics. |
| H-7 | Ancient Lockbox and Rune of Release |
Walkthrough
- Note: The former Summoner or /SMN strategy-summoning an avatar, having it engage the Mimic, moving more than 20 yalms away, and then releasing the avatar-appears to no longer work on HorizonXI.

- Enter the mission at H-8.
- Search the branches, islands, and shipwrecks throughout Map 8 for Cursed Chests.
- There are twelve Cursed Chests.
- One chest is randomly selected to contain the golden figurehead.
- The remaining eleven are potential Mimics.
- Percipient Fish are present throughout part of the search area.
- They are not part of the objective and do not need to be defeated.
- Examine each Cursed Chest:
- If it is the incorrect chest, it becomes a Cursed Chest Mimic and immediately claims the player who opened it.
- If it is the correct chest, a message announces that it contains the golden figurehead and the mission objective is completed.
- When the correct chest is found:
- Any currently spawned Cursed Chest Mimics are despawned.
- The Ancient Lockbox and Rune of Release become available at H-7.
- Open the Ancient Lockbox and distribute any treasure before activating the Rune of Release.
- Examine the Rune of Release to complete the Assault and receive Assault Points.
Cursed Chest Mechanics
| Mechanic | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Number of chests | 12 |
| Correct chest | One of the twelve is selected randomly when the instance is created. |
| Incorrect chest | Becomes a Cursed Chest Mimic and immediately claims the player who examined it. |
| Correct chest opened | Completes the objective and despawns all currently active Cursed Chest Mimics. |
| Draw-In | An engaged Mimic draws its target to its position when the target is more than approximately 3 yalms but less than approximately 20 yalms away. |
Enemies
| Name | Base Level | Spawns | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Percipient Fish | 81-82 | 8 |
|
| Cursed Chest | 73-75 | Up to 11 |
|
Strategy
- Since the correct chest is selected randomly from all twelve, no particular chest has better odds.
- A party may split between different branches to locate the correct chest more quickly.
- Each player checking chests should be prepared to survive an immediate Mimic claim.
- Avoid Percipient Fish unless one blocks the route to a chest.
- When an incorrect chest becomes a Mimic, fighting near it is generally more reliable than attempting to remain at medium range because it uses Draw-In between approximately 3 and 20 yalms.
- The party does not need to defeat every Mimic.
- Finding the correct chest immediately despawns all currently active Mimics.
- Keep track of which chests have already been examined.
- After the objective is complete, regroup at H-7.
- Open the Ancient Lockbox before anyone activates the Rune of Release.
