Aftermath
Description
Aftermath is a beneficial status effect applied upon using one of the weapon/job specific Weapon Skills with a Relic Weapon (or Stage 4 Weapon in Dynamis areas) equipped.
Aftermath has varying effects and duration, depending on the type of weapon and the user's TP upon using the associated Weapon Skill. Relic weapons each have a unique effect associated with each weapon.
Both the proper weapon and the proper weapon skill must be used together to create an Aftermath effect. Using either one without the other will not create Aftermath.
The Aftermath status icon appears for the duration of the effect and does stack with spells and other effects.
Aftermath effects will "overwrite" themselves to restore their remaining duration if the appropriate Weapon Skill is performed again while Aftermath is still in effect. However, in the case of Empyrean weapons, a new Aftermath will not overwrite a preexisting Aftermath if the new Aftermath is at a lower level than the preexisting one.
The Aftermath effect immediately wears off if any weaponry is equipped, switched, or unequipped, whether this is done by the player or caused by an enemy or other gameplay mechanic. (In short, if an equipment change would cause your TP to reset to zero, it will also remove Aftermath.) Switching ammunition is permitted, along with equipping any ammo that is incompatible with your currently equipped ranged weapon (which will cause the ranged weapon to be automatically removed).
