Historical Background
In English folklore, a mischievous spirit found in nature. When England became Christian, Puck was reinterpreted as a sprite inhabiting woodlands who would lead people astray. Puck was also a character in Shakespeare's play A Midsummer Night's Dream. This version of Puck worked for Oberon, King of the Faeries.
One of the moons of Uranus is named Puck, after the Shakespearean character. Puck was discovered by Voyager 2 on December 30, 1985. It is 162km in diameter and is the largest of the small inner satellites of Uranus. It is a dark colored body.
