Charm and Belly Dance Mechanics

The mission-specific Charm and enemy behavior below are based on original-era documentation and require confirmation on HorizonXI.

Mechanic Reported Behavior
Initial control
  • The three Fallen soldiers begin the mission under Lamia No.13's Charm.
  • While charmed, they assist Lamia No.13 and attack players.
Removing Charm

The following effects are reported to remove Charm from the Fallen soldiers:

After Charm is removed, the affected soldier attacks Lamia No.13.

Single-effect dispels
  • Dispel effects remove one removable status effect at a time.
  • Other beneficial effects may be removed before Charm.
  • The Fallen Imperial Trooper may gain attribute bonuses from Absorb spells, potentially requiring several dispels before Charm is removed.
Belly Dance
  • Inflicts area-of-effect Charm within approximately 15 yalms.
  • The effect is directed toward either the player party or the Fallen soldiers, depending on Lamia No.13's current target.
  • Facing away from Lamia No.13 is not reported to prevent the mission-specific Charm.
  • Affected targets are removed from Lamia No.13's enmity list.
Recharming the Fallen
  • Lamia No.13 may use Belly Dance to place the Fallen soldiers back under her control.
  • Dispel Charm again whenever this occurs.
Player Charm
  • Original-era reports state that Charm may also be removed from players with dispelling effects.
  • Other removable effects on the player may be removed before Charm.
  • A charmed player may instead be controlled with Sleep until Charm expires.
Uncharmed Fallen soldiers
  • May be targeted with curing magic.
  • Can receive some beneficial effects.
  • Applying unnecessary beneficial effects may interfere with later attempts to remove Charm.
Enmity
  • Damaging, enfeebling, or dispelling Lamia No.13 places the acting player on her enmity list.
  • When using the Fallen soldiers as the primary damage source, players should avoid targeting Lamia No.13 directly.

  • Assign one player to each Fallen soldier when possible.
  • Remove Charm from all three soldiers and allow them to attack Lamia No.13.
  • Cure the uncharmed soldiers as needed.

    • Directly targeting her may place players on her enmity list and cause Belly Dance to be directed toward the player party.
  • Remain outside Belly Dance range while maintaining the Fallen soldiers.
  • Avoid placing unnecessary beneficial effects on the Fallen soldiers.
    • These effects may be removed before Charm by a single-effect dispel.
  • Position area dispels carefully so they affect the Fallen soldiers without striking Lamia No.13.

Direct Damage Strategy

  • Keep the Fallen soldiers controlled with Sleep or Lullaby.
  • Assign a tank or kiter to maintain Lamia No.13's attention.
  • Keep support jobs and ranged attackers outside Belly Dance range.
  • Be prepared to dispel or sleep any party member affected by Charm.
  • Do not defeat the Fallen soldiers unless control is lost and they become an immediate threat.

Pet Strategy

  • pets are not affected by the Charm.
  • Pet jobs use pets to hold Lamia No.13's while the players remain outside Belly Dance range.
  • Issuing attack commands such as Blood Pact's and Sic against Lamia No.13 will place the player on her enmity list.
