Historical Background
Omega is the 24th and final letter in the Greek alphabet because of this, the word is often used to denote the last, the end, or the ultimate limit of a set, in contrast to Alpha, the first letter of the Greek alphabet. In the Greek numeric system, it has a value of 800.
Omega Weapon often appears in Final Fantasy games as a superboss, and once in Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus as the final boss. This particular form is very similar to the Omega of Final Fantasy V, notorious for being one of the hardest bosses in the game, though it was optional.
