Historical Background

In Australian Aboriginal mythology, the Yowie is a strange creature that resembles a combination of a lizard and an ant which emerged from the ground at night to eat anything it could find, including humans. In modern cryptozoology, it is considered a giant hairy humanoid-like figure, an Australian equivalent of Bigfoot. It is considered similar to another Aboriginal mythological creature, the Bunyip. Though its description fits an Antlion more than a Raptor, the Yowie was added into Final Fantasy XI before Antlions were introduced.
