Translation
Raikiri is Japanese for "Cutting Thunder" (雷切). The name comes from an actual katana used by a famous samurai Tachibana Dousetsu(立花道雪). When one day Tachibana was resting in the shade of a tree during a storm, a bolt of lightning almost struck him but he was able to draw his katana and cut through it before it made contact. Like the legend, the NM "Dosetsu Tree" only appears during thunder storms.
