Historical Background
A vampiric ghost from folklore in the Scottish Highlands, these were ghosts who appeared as beautiful women who would invite men to dance with them. During the dancing, they would drink the men's blood. They are also called the White Women of the Highlands. They were usually found in forests or other natural settings. Some versions have them as a very fair maiden garbed in a green dress, similar to Maighdean Uaine, the Green Lady, who likewise would be feared by people (though Square didn't use that version for Maighdean Uaine, they used another version of her). She is considered similar to Leanan Sidhe, though there are differences between the two (Leanan Sidhe is a vampiric female spirit in the Isle of Man who would act as a muse, inspiring a poet. Her phantasmic presence brings supernatural inspiration and the poet achieves greatness, but that greatness costs them their life energy, which the muse feeds off of).
