Historical Background

Buffalo (Genus Bubalus) is a group of bovine ungulates renowned for their use as domesticated beasts of burden. They are native to Southeast Asia and the Indian Subcontinent. The African Buffalo (Genus Syncerus) is also a buffalo. It is known for its formidible strength. As adults, barring sickness, they can easily defend themselves against lions. The Buffalos native to America, though called Buffalos are not true Buffalos. Their proper name is Bison. True Buffalos reside in Asia and Africa.
