Mining is a Hobby in which various items can be mined from Mining Points. In order to mine, adventurers need to use a pickaxe on a point. Each mineable zone has a set amount of possible mining point locations. Only so many of these can be active at any one time and once a point has been mined, it will respawn immediately at another location. All points yield four items before being depleted however, multiple active points can appear at the same location, allowing miners to yield double and even triple the items. A quick and simple way to mine is to use the following macro:
Line 1: /targetnpc Line 2: /item Pickaxe <t>
This can be expanded upon to initiate mining on 3 consecutive occassions. The wait duration may need to be adjusted as it can vary depending on your FPS:
Line 1: /targetnpc Line 2: /item Pickaxe <t><wait4> Line 3: /targetnpc Line 4: /item Pickaxe <t><wait4> Line 5: /targetnpc Line 6: /item Pickaxe <t><wait4>
As a friendly warning to any potential miners, any 3rd party addons which allow for the automation of mining are strictly against the Horizon ToS.
Equipment
Adventurers must have Pickaxes in their Inventory to be able to mine. These can be crafted, purchased from the Auction House or from the following vendors:
Gear is not a requirement to mine however it is highly recommended as it reduces the amount of pickaxe breakages. Players are limited to the Field Tunica Set or it's HQ counterpart Worker Tunica Set. At this time it's unknown what advantage the HQ has over the regular.
Mining Tips
- Only so many mining points can be active at any one time. Running between these points can prove to be very time consuming. It's generally advantageous to team-up with fellow miners to ensure all points are being covered with the least amount of running between them.
- Players can mine whilst under the effect of sneak but cannot do so whilst under the effects of invisible. This can allow lower level players to mine in some areas that they wouldn't usually be able to.
- If inventory space is an issue, having Smithing or Goldsmithing leveled sufficiently can allow a miner to turn ores into ingots, thus freeing up more space.
