| Description = Once found on the [[Quon]] continent, colibris have more recently been sighted only in the [[Near East]]. Colibris, relatives of the hummingbird, are able to hover in much the same manner. This process, however, requires the bird to continuously flap its wings, thereby causing it to expend significant energy. In order to maintain such movement, the colibri needs a high-caloric diet… and what better way than to steal the food from those adventurers daring enough to engage them? Their large beak has evolved specifically with this goal in mind. Similarly, the large wings and rapid movement of the colibri have been known to disorient any attackers, resetting any built up Tactical Points. Colibris have been known to show an increase in all around strength (attack, speed, evasion, and defense) during wind weather or Windsday, further evidencing their relationship to the wind element. Those adventurers set on defeating Colibri will find themselves with plenty of beaks and feathers to go around. The beak are used in a number of different recipes, and can even be strung together to form a necklace. The feathers are used less often, but can be combined with the beak to form a dart that is prevalent in the Near East.

Special Attacks
Special Abilities | Aht Urhgan Areas | Wings of the Goddess Areas | Pankration
Feather Tickle: Reduces a single target's TP to zero. Cannot miss. (Certain targets, like Automatons, can resist its effect and only have TP reduced by half)
Snatch Morsel: Removes Food Effects from target. Cannot be blocked by Utsusemi but it can miss.
Pecking Flurry: Single-target 4-hit physical attack.
Wisecrack: Charms players in an area of effect. Only used by certain Notorious Monsters.
Magic Parroting: Mimics offensive White Magic, Black Magic, Songs, and Ninjutsu spells; cannot parrot Blue Magic or Summoning Magic (including magic cast by avatars). Parroted spells cast instantly as if they were under Chainspell effect, and can either target the original caster or whoever has highest enmity (about 50% chance of either). Can only mimic a spell within a minute or so of being affected by it, and the impending mimicry is telegraphed by its posture (arched back and beak agape). When this posture is abandoned, it forgets any spells. Parroting can be prevented with Silence, though landing Silence is difficult. (Note: Not used by Lesser Colibri or the Colibri located in East Ronfaure (S).)
Note: Notorious Monsters in this family may use all of the above and/or additional unique special abilities. |
