Historical Background

In English and Scottish folklore, a Bogy (also spelled Bogey) is a nasty and mischievous evil spirit which tries to terrify people. It is considered to be an import of the Boggart. Bogy comes from bogle, the Scottish word for "ghost". Bogey, during World War II, was the name Allies used for an unidentified aircraft presumed to be hostile.
