Notes:

  • Much larger than other skeletons.
  • The middle Vermillion Cloak pirate does *not* guarantee that Blackbeard will spawn immediately, although it usually will. If it does not, defeat the Ship Wight placeholder until it does. (Respawn time of the skeletons is 1 minute)
  • The Vermillion Cloaked pirate showing up is NOT a timed event or "respawn". He can appear on any boat ride with pirate event leaving Mhaura, making this NM a variant of a true lottery pop, although the NM will still only appear once per trip.
  • Special Attacks: High damage AOE; casts Sleepga II, Ice Spikes, Waterga III, Thunder III, Thundaga II, Stun, Flood, Freeze, and Burst.
  • Highly resistant or Immune to Silence and Bind.
  • Resistant to magical damage.
  • Killable by: 4+ characters level 70+, 2 characters level 75, soloable at 75 by some jobs (see testimonials)

Historical Background

Blackbeard was the nickname of Edward Teach, alias Edward Thatch (other sources give his name as Edward Drummond, although his birth name is not known), a notorious English pirate who had a short reign of terror in the Caribbean Sea between 1716 and 1718, during a period of time referred to as the Golden Age of Piracy. His best known vessel was the Queen Anne's Revenge, which is believed by some to have run aground near Beaufort Inlet, North Carolina in 1718.
