Notes:
- The first merit upgrade unlocks Empathy.
- Each merit upgrade increases the maximum number of eligible status effects copied to the wyvern by 1.
- Empathy may be upgraded a maximum of five times, allowing up to five effects to be copied.
- Empathy activates when Spirit Link is used.
- If more eligible effects are active than Empathy can copy, the copied effects are selected at random.
- If the wyvern already has one of the selected status effects, its existing effect is replaced by the effect copied from the Dragoon.
- Having at least one Empathy merit allows Spirit Link to be used while the wyvern is at full HP.
- Using Spirit Link at full wyvern HP does not reduce the Dragoon's HP.
- Unlike later retail behavior, Empathy does not grant experience points or levels to the wyvern in this era.

- Important exceptions:
- Defense Boost is copyable, but Defender is not.
- Blink is copyable, but the Copy Image effect granted by Utsusemi is not.
- Phalanx, Aggressor, Counterstance, Invisible, Sneak, Deodorize, Divine Seal, Elemental Seal, Sneak Attack, Trick Attack, food effects, Signet, Sanction, and Mazurka do not carry the Empathy flag in the LandSandBoat baseline.
- An effect being copied does not guarantee that it provides a useful benefit to a wyvern. The practical behavior of Reraise, Hymnus, Hasso, and Seigan after being copied should be verified on HorizonXI.
- This compatibility list is based on LandSandBoat's current status-effect data and requires HorizonXI-specific confirmation.
