Notes

  • Spawned by trading Relic Shield to ??? at (K-6).  ??? repop is 15 minutes. The Relic Shield is lost upon trading, so an additional Relic Shield will be needed if you are going to upgrade it.
  • Has ability to call all Tavnazian Sheep and Tavnazian Rams to link with it. They don't teleport, just walk from their spawns to wherever Amaltheia's target is.
    • The 22 sheep can be used for TP, and the 2 Rams can either be killed while kiting the NM or just kept asleep.
    • The sheep and rams it calls do NOT "link" to whomever Amaltheia is attacking in the typical sense. if someone kites Amaltheia past you and the Tavnazian Rams are following, they will "aggro" unto you and link other sheep/rams on you. You do not have to have performed any action on Amaltheia or the rams for them to aggro you in this way. You don't have to be in PT for this to happen.
  • Immune to Slow, Elegy, Blind, Stun and Paralyze. Susceptible to Sleep, Gravity, and Addle.
  • Immune to all forms of damage over time spell. Dia, Bio, Burn etc. can land, but they will then immediately wear off.
  • Magic: Uses Holy on random people in casting range, Cure V, Banishga III, Banish IV.
  • Special Attacks: Uses a Cone Attack Petrify ability called Petribreath that is similar to the Crawler ability Poison Breath
    • Seems to have a wider angle than the standard 45° arc for most Cone Attacks.
  • Can be defeated with an alliance of level 75 players using a kiting strategy.


Historical Background

In Greek mythology, Amaltheia was a divine goat that provided milk and honey for an infant Zeus (god of weather, ruler of the Olympian gods) on Mount Aigaion on the island of Crete. Amaltheia's horn was broken off and it became Cornucopia ("horn of plenty"), which would always be filled with food no matter how much was taken from it. Amaltheia was then set in the heavens as the constellation Capricorn. Amaltheia is occasionally interpreted as a nymph accompanied by a goat. By some accounts, this goat's hide coats the legendary shield Aegis, giving it its powerful properties.

Amalthea is also the name of a moon of Jupiter. It was discovered on September 9th, 1892 by Barnard. It has a 172km diameter. The moon is also among the reddest objects in the Sol solar system, being redder than Mars.
