Notes
- Respawn: 2-3 Days. Can take longer than 3 days to respawn; respawned 30min after the 3 Day mark.
- Runs at approximately 250% normal running speed. It is able to outrun both chocobos and players using Flee, which both only provide 200% movement speed.
- When passive, it never stops running around the area. It does not aggro and cannot be pulled with ranged attack or spells. Even if an aggressive ability such as Provoke is used on it, it will ignore it and keep running. You must attack a random Sabotender and have it link in order for it to attack you.
- The link range is approximately 10'.
- Sleeping a nearby Sabotender and waiting is a well-established method for linking.
- Uses 10000 Needles, which like 1000 Needles deals exactly 10,000 damage spread evenly among the number of characters hit by it. The damage ignores defense, but is absorbed or reduced by Stoneskin, Phalanx, and damage reduction gear. Also uses 1000 Needles.
- Immune to dark-based Sleep, Bind, Gravity, and Stun.
- Susceptible to light-based Sleep, Slow, Paralyze, and Blind.
- Melee attacks are extremely fast.
- Appears last in wide scan; if outpost NPCs are close, it will be just before them.
- Wide scan will stick to it.
Historical Background
Cactrot is the name given to the cactus-man enemy commonly called Cactuar in English and Sabotender in Japanese in Final Fantasy VI (1994), which marked the first appearance of this creature in the Final Fantasy series. Cactrot is a combination of Cactus + Trot, namely because it is a cactus which runs away and dodges attacks with great ease (trot refers to a pace of movement faster than walking, but slower than running. A jog can be considered analogous to a trot). Rapido is Spanish for "fast" or "rapid", which describes its extremely fast movement.
