Category:Chocobo Digging
Chocobo Digging is a hobby in FFXI in which adventurers use Gysahl Greens to get chocobos to dig up items. The only requirement to dig is to be riding a chocobo and to have greens in your invenotory. To dig, the player can use either the dig command from the menu options or /dig. Each time dig is used, one gysahl green will be removed from your inventory. The player must also move a minimum of 2 yalms from their previous dig location to be able to dig again.
Limitations
On Horizon there is a 100 item per real life day limit on how many items can be dug up and this limit refreshes at Japanese Midnight. The limit is increased by 10 items for each rank-up achieved. Furthermore, the message log will show a skill-up message when these are achieved.
Moon Phase
The current Moon Phase plays a significant role in the accuracy of your chocobos digging. As a rule of thumb, the closer the phase is to 50% the lower your accuracy will be. The current moon phase can be checked by using the command /clock.
Generally adventurers looking to make the most profit will dig during a full/new moon as their accuracy will be at its highest. Adventurers who are looking to acheive the most amount of skill-ups before they hit their daily dig limit will prefer to dig as close to 50% as possible. Lower accuracy translates into more dig attempts and thus more chance of skill-ups.
Dig Accuracy
Digging accuracy is affected by two things: moon phase and digging rank. TBC.
Item Pools
Each area has it's own unique pool of items that can be dug up. These pools have a set amount of items and once the pool has been emptied, no further items may be dug on that particular day. Pools refresh at the start of a new Vana'diel day (00:00), at which point items may then be dug up once again.
