With recent changes to Beastmaster I believe it might be time to created a guide for HorizonXI's era. Please note there are likely to be major changes in the future as stated in the Mog House held by the developers for 1.1 seemed to indicate this. Beastmaster on HorizonXI plays much different from the original game. With the addition of out of era Jug Pets BST's are far more useful for just about everything.Charm has been patched making it work as it should. There is No Experience Points penalty for using Charmed* or Jug Pets in a party. *If you charm anything above Even Match this might not be true if the monsters level is above the highest level in your party. With that said lets start.

Charm

  • Charm is what most people think of for Beastmaster; It tames a monster to fight by your side. Charm is based off two main factors or three when played as a Support Job ; Your Beastmaster's level Versus the monsters and then a Charisma check. This is expanded to include your main job level if you are Subbing Bst. So when using BST as a Support Job it would be a check on your current job level and Beastmaster Max Level. Yes this would mean if you want to use Beastmaster as a Support Job at level 75 you would need to also have Beastmaster at level 75. After that it is a basic Charisma check like BST main.
    • Some monsters have higher resist rates to Charm such as Slimes.
    • Light Staff and Appolo's Staff work on charm they appear to be a flat 10% and 15% increase respectively to your success rate. for the most part this is the best item for charm, there are some instances where the Monster Signa might be better post level 51, but this is incredibly rare.
    • Charm + Gear such as Beast Gloves are a flat 5% time increase per charm+.
    • timers of charm vary by how the monster checks to you I will update this section as we learn the times on this server. 30 Min can be achieved for monsters that check to week.

Jug Pets

  • Oh Jug Pets, how controversial you are. Jug Pets are what actually has prompted me to make this guide. With the recent removal of Bestial Loyalty I saw a lot of complaints. From day one I personally had thought Bestial Loyalty was a bad idea. It breaks the economy that was far more important during this era. Anyways with that little rant over lets go over what Jug pets are
  • Uses Call Beast to summon a Familiar to fight with you. All pets you summon unlike on retail are considered Even Match.
  • Jug Pets can be used inside all content, this allows Beastmaster to be useful in all content even when Charm is unusable.
    • Examples include: BCNM's, KSNM's, all level capped zones such as Promyvion and so on. You get the idea, you can have a pet to fight with you anywhere versus "in era" would have been limited to Charm
  • Cheap Jugs: There has been a lot of complaints about the cost of Beastmaster due the removal of Bestial Loyalty, yes if you do nothing but throw Singing Herbal Broth at everything as you did in the past you will run into issues of high cost. However check the Jug Pet page, the levels of the pets should be correct, the Crab Familiar can be bought for almost nothing and caps out at level 55. Courier Carrie the HQ version of the Crab Familiar is fairly cheap on the AH and caps at 75.
  • All HQ Jugs cap at level 75 now.
  • Cooking is a great way for you to save some cash on Jug's, price going up to much? why not just make your own?
    • this has the added benefit of crafting cheaper Pet food used in Reward. Even at 60 you can often save some cash on your day to day items on BST.

What Pets to use?

  • This is a bit of a complex answer, if you are in a party your going to want to use your hardest hitting pets. This includes Lullaby Melodia or maybe Saber Siravarde for pure DPS. If you are using charm, you want to use strong mobs such as Scorpion

Reward

  • Reward is a super cure for your pet alongside a mini Regen that lasts 3 minutes; yes that is the full recast of reward
  • Reward works on both Charmed and Jug Pet's and unlocks at level 12 Beastmaster this can also be used as a Support Job as unlike Call Beast with Its jugs, Pet Food is usable by all jobs.
  • Reward has a pet food that gets more powerful every 12 levels. please see the pet food for the correct level.
    • HorizonXI has an issue with allowing you to equip all pet food at level 1. Although you can equip it, it is not usable with reward until its appropriate level.
  • I am unsure if the formula posted on the main wiki(and soon ours) is correct for each of the pet foods. but all you need to know is one thing early on and a two others once you have AF/Relic
    • Reward's main modifier is MND the more MND you have equipped when using Reward the more HP your pet will recover.
      • Note: MND has no effect on the regen effect that appears to be a flat number per 3 seconds.
  • Items that "enhance" reward such as Beast Gaiters add a flat percentage in the case of Beast Gaiters it is a flat 10% added to Reward there are a few other items such as Ogre Gloves that also add 10%
  • Items that "augment" Reward are a bit different. Beast Jackcoat for example removes paralyze, Blind, and Poison where as the Monster Jackcoat BSts's Relic body, removes weight, slow, and silence. the +1's add more effects but you get the idea.
