Missions are tasks that a player performs to advance in the main story lines of Final Fantasy XI. Rewards for missions vary. Missions for the three starting cities can reward the player with higher ranks, Gil, national flags, and the ability to purchase new items with [[Conquest Points]].  Missions from the expansion areas allow players to unlock previously inaccessible areas, gain special equipment, and sometimes participate in follow-up quests that expand upon the story lines.

In a national mission, your character is temporarily hired to solve a problem that is troubling your nation, and you will be compensated accordingly. The specific content of missions ranges from odd jobs to top-secret operations. With higher levels come increased trust and the opportunity to undertake important missions with great rewards... and high stakes.

The Chains of Promathia (CoP) missions are unlocked upon installation of the [[Chains of Promathia]] expansion pack.
 
The [[Chains of Promathia Missions]] introduce the fifth mothercrystal ([[Al'Taieu]]), which has lost its light, and the realm beyond it, [[:Category:Lumoria|Lumoria]].  Progression in these missions provides access to [[Al'Taieu]] (aka Sea), [[Tavnazian Archipelago]] and [[Promathia Mission 8-4|Dawn]].

HorizonXI Wiki - Missions
