Overview
Scrolls are items that, when used, are consumed as they permanently teach a character a particular spell. The scroll can be used so long as the character is of a specific job of at least the level of the scroll (i.e. Must be at least level 3 White Mage to use a scroll of Dia), or have that job of the appropriate level set as their subjob (A War10/Whm3 can use the scroll and learn the spell).
If the scroll teaches a spell that is used by multiple jobs, once the spell is learned for one job, it is learned for all jobs that use it; although level restrictions still dictate at what level a specific job can use the spell. Example: If a Red Mage learns Dia II (level 31 RDM), if they want to use it as a White Mage, they must be level 36 (the level a WHM can use Dia II).Certain types of scrolls are used by certain jobs:
- White Magic scrolls are used by White Mages, Red Mages, Scholars and Paladins.
- Black Magic scrolls are used by Black Mages, Red Mages, Scholars and Dark Knights.
- Songs (musical scrolls) are used by Bards.
- Ninjutsu scrolls are used by Ninjas.
- Summoning scrolls teach Summoners how to summon elemental spirits.
- Dice, while not actually scrolls, function in the same way and teach Corsairs additional types of Phantom Rolls.
- Geomancy scrolls are used by Geomancers.
