HorizonXI Wiki - HorizonXI Changes
HorizonXI is an 'era+' FFXI private server. The 'era+' alludes to custom changes made by the development team in an attempt to balance the game more fairly and to make some lesser used content more relevant. This page contains a list of all KNOWN custom changes.
Jobs
Warrior
- Starts the game with an Onion Great Axe instead of an Onion Sword.
- Minor changes to Artifact Armor.
- Significant changes to the relic weapon Ragnarok.
- Provoke now receives an additional 250 cumulative enmity (CE) when Defender is active and Warrior is set as main job. This number is reduced to +180 for (/WAR).
- Defender has a -25% enmity loss reduction when taking damage and a +10% chance to block with a shield, but for WAR main job only.
It also adds 250 cumulative enmity (CE) to provoke, when Warrior is set as main job. This number is reduced to +180 for (/WAR).
Monk
- Minor changes to Artifact Armor.
- Moderate changes to the relic weapon Spharai.
- Boost has a larger attack bonus of 20% , a longer recast of 30 seconds and a duration 3 minutes.
- Focus is learned at level 15 instead of 25, has a 3 minute duration and increases critical hit rate by ???.
- Dodge is learned at level 25, has a 3 minute duration and increases guard rate by ???.
- Chakra's recast time has been reduced to 2 minutes from 3. It also removed multiple status effects the player is inflicted with.
- Chi Blast now also removes 1 mob buff (Dispel). Testing is required to see whether this effect is random.
White Mage
- Minor changes to Artifact Armor.
- Significant changes to the relic weapon Mjollnir.
- +3 to base MP recovery rate for a total of +7, gained upon obtaining level 75.
- Devotion is available at level 45 instead of via merits.
- Divine Veil can also double the potency and duration of the next Regen spell, as well as it's usual effects, whilst the job ability Divine Seal is active.
- Clear Mind VI can be obtained, obtainable by only White Mage's has been confirmed to have access to.
- The Banish Effect (Merit) category has been buffed and it's effects against undead now extend to Cure spells and Holy. - version 1.2
- Reraise is available to White Mage's at level 25 instead of 33.
- Haste has had its recast reduced from 20 to 18 seconds. - Version 1.1
- The effect of Banish has been 'era+'ed' but testing is required to verify how
- Protectra V is now obtained via scrolls and not merits.
- Shellra V is now obtained via scrolls and not merits.
Black Mage
- Minor changes to Artifact Armor and significant changes to Casting Wand.
- Major changes to the relic weapon Claustrum.
- +2 to base MP recovery rate for a total of +6, gained upon obtaining level 75.
- Some Elemental magic scrolls bought from vendors have reduced prices. The amount needs further investigation but appears to be around 40%. Scrolls with reduced prices can be found to be marked as such on the wiki.
- Magic Bursts receive an extra +35 Magic Accuracy, +35 Magic Attack and reduced enmity generation, except on notorious monsters.
- Poison's DoT effect has been increased from 1 a tick to 4 a tick.
Red Mage
- Starts the game with an Onion Sword instead of an Onion Dagger.
- Minor changes to Artifact Armor and significant changes to Fencing Degen.
- Major changes to the relic weapon Mandau including the new Adaptive Effect.
- 30% reduction in enmity gained from casting enfeebling magic while on Red Mage as your main job.
- +1 to base MP recovery rate for a total of +5, gained upon obtaining level 75.
- Convert has had its recast increased from 10 to 13 minutes.
- The group 1 merit Convert Recast Reduction now only reduces the recast by 12 seconds as opposed to 20.
- Some Elemental magic scrolls bought from vendors have reduced prices. The amount needs further investigation but appears to be around 40%. Scrolls with reduced prices can be found to be marked as such on the wiki.
- The cost of Refresh has been increased from 40 to 50 MP and it's recast time has been decreased from 18 to 16 seconds. - Version 1.1
- Poison's DoT effect has been increased from 1 a tick to 4 a tick.
Thief
- Minor changes to Artifact Armor.
- Major changes to the relic weapon Mandau including the new Adaptive Effect.
- Treasure Hunter has been removed from Thief's Knife and has moved to the custom item Nanaa's Charm.
- The player's Accuracy and Ranged Accuracy when using Perfect Dodge are increased by 999.
- Many elemental type weapon skills have been changed to the "hybrid" type and will now stack with Sneak Attack.
- Triple Attack unlocks at level 30 instead of 55.
- Assassin is unlocked at level 50 instead of 60.
- Accomplice was not available in the current era, can now be used on an alliance (it was party only on retail), has had it's level reduced from 65 to 45 and no longer shares a recast timer with Collaborator.
- Collaborator was not available in the current era, can now be used on an alliance (it was party only on retail), has had it's level reduced from 65 to 45 and it's recast time increased from 1 to 5 minutes It no longer shares a recast timer with Accomplice and it now redirects 50% of the Thief's enmity to their chosen target.
- Bully was not available in the current era, has had it's level reduced from 93 to 40, it's recast has been lowered from 3 to 1 minute. The ability has been completely reworked, now giving a guaranteed status bolt additional effect proc on monsters within 15 levels of the Thief. On Notorious Monsters, the chance of landing a status effect bolt has been increased but not guarenteed. The omni-directional sneak attack portion has been removed.
- Mug grants a critical hit rate bonus of 5% on the target monster for 30 seconds. Recast time reduced from 15 minutes to 10 minutes
Paladin
- Minor changes to Artifact Armor.
- Significant changes to the relic weapon Ragnarok.
- Paladin's are able to use most clubs now.
- Shields have been buffed and now have an increased block rate and damage reduction when blocking.
Job Abilities
- Holy Circle increased damage for party member against undead mobs. Protects against blood aggro but further testing is required to ascertain how.
Recast has also been doubled to 10 minutes. - Chivalry is available at level 45. It was originally a merit ability. It's recast has also been reduced from 20 to 15 minutes.
- The accuracy of the stun component of the job ability “Shield Bash” has been increased. It will now provide a similar stun rate to the job ability “Weapon Bash”. Version 1.2
- The job ability “Cover” is now usable on alliance members. Version 1.2
- Cover no longer requires the paladin to put themselves in between party member and enemy. Works as long as party member stays in range and does not move. While a Paladin is covering another player eg. a Warrior while using Berserk, the defense calculation is incorrect and the player will find themselves taking increased damage (it's as if the PLD has inherited the WAR's defense). It is currently unknown whether Cover is working correctly after the Version 1.2 update. Previously it was hard to decipher what was an era+ change and what was broken.
Job Traits
- Auto-Refresh's level has been reduced to 25, from 35. It wasn't available until the Treasures of Aht Urghan era.
- Shield Mastery wasn't available until the Treasures of Aht Urghan era.
Spells
- The effect of Banish has been 'era+'ed' but testing is required to verify how
- Enlight wasn't originally in the Chains of Promathia era and was a level 85 spell on retail when it did become available. On Horizon is can be learnt by Paladin's at level 40.
Weapon Skills
Dark Knight
- Moderate changes to Artifact Armor.
- Minor change to the relic weapon Apocalypse.
- Significant changes to the relic weapon Ragnarok.
- Arcane Circle has a damage bonus against arcana for all parties members as well as providing protection against magic aggro but further testing is required to ascertain how effective this is.
The recast of this ability has been doubled to 10 minutes. - Arcane Circle Recast merits now decrease its recast time by 20 seconds per merit, instead of 10.
- Desperate Blows was a merit ability in era.
- Desperate Blows was a merit ability in era and wasn't available until the Treasures of Aht Urghan era.
- Souleater now has a recast time of 5 minutes, instead of 6.
- Souleater Recast merits now decreases its recast by 10 seconds per merit, instead of 12.
- Last Resort's duration has been doubled from 30s to 60s
Beastmaster
- Moderate changes to Artifact Armor.
- Significant changes to the relic weapon Guttler.
- The night flowers that need to be examined while doing the Save My Son can be examined as early as 16:00 and as late as 06:00 hours in game. This may or may not be a bug.
- Ready wasn't available until 2009. There are only 45 seconds between charges as opposed to 60 seconds when it was available. A maximum of 3 charges still applies but this is now attained after 2 minutes and 25 seconds has passed as opposed to 3 minutes.
Bard
- None
Ranger
- Camouflage grants an enmity reduction on the next attack.*
- Velocity Shot wasn't available until the Wings of the Goddess era.
Samurai
- Hasso was't available in the CoP era. Hasso now shares a recast time of 45 seconds with Seigan.The bonus effects of Zanshin appear to no longer in effect.
- Seigan - was't available in the CoP era. Seigan now shares a recast time of 45 seconds with Hasso.The bonus effects of Zanshin appear to no longer in effect.
- Warding Circle - changes similar to arcane circle/holy circle?
- Zanshin - Doesn't gain the activation rate bonus from Hasso/Seigan. It has been reported that it no longer activates on attacks that are guarded, countered or deal 0 damage.
Ninja
- Mijin Gakure - Has been replaced with Mikage. - Version 1.1
- Utsusemi: Ni - recast increased by 15 seconds.
- Utsusemi: Ni - recast increased by 15 seconds.
- Yonin - learned at Lv.20 instead of Lv.40, modified to only -15% att, emn +10, and reduces recast of utsus by 10 seconds. Does not grant Ninja Tool Expertise. Unknown if it enhances it.
- Ninja Tool Expertise - learned at Lv.40 as a trait.
- Mikage - Custom 2hr ability. Player receives 4 shadows upon activation. Grants a 30 second duration where elemental ninjutsu spells deal a multiplied amount of damage, with the amount of multiplication decided on the amount of shadows remaining. - Version 1.1
Dragoon
- Ancient Circle changes similar to arcane circle?
- Steady Wing was not available in the current era, has had it's level reduced from 95 to 30.
Summoner
- Whispering Wind has erase effect
- Spring Water gives AoE 2 mp/tic refresh
- Crimson Howl lasts 3 minutes
- Ecliptic Growl has swaped with Ecliptic Howl and is level 54 vs 43
- Ecliptic Howl has swaped with Ecliptic Growl is level 43 vs 54
Combat
Experience Points
- WotG exp rates.
- Level Sync is available and limited to 10 levels before an XP penalty begins to take effect. See the level sync page for more information.
- All Experience Scrolls give triple the amount of EXP. - Update. 1.1
Signet
- The Treasures of Aht Urghan signet bonus changes are in effect.
- Signet gives a bonus to HP Recovered While Healing.
- Signet gives a bonus to XP rates, in CoP areas only, at the following level ranges:
- Level 50-59:- 5%
- Level 60-69:- 7.5%
- Level 70-75:- 10%.
- There is an additional bonus tp experience points when xping in a "territory not controlled by your home nation" of 5%, but only in CoP areas.
General Combat
- Attack and Accuracy modifiers have been adjusted as part of a general balancing pass on Horizon. The purpose of these adjustments is to compensate for current and future player power while keeping in mind the addition of new items, job abilities, traits, and merits in the future. - Version 1.2
- Club damage was buffed
- TP is measured in 1000's whereas it was in 100s in era.
Weapon Skills
- Every weapon type will now obtain its first weapon skill at skill level 5 instead of skill level 10. - Version 1.2
- Skillchain damage against mobs no longer has a chance of being resisted against non NM/HNM/endgame bosses.
- Many Weapon Skills have been found to have their had property changes but not had their in-game help text updated (yet).
- Most Elemental WS changed to Hybrid and will stack with Sneak Attack.

Archery
- Flaming Arrow is obtained at skill level 5 instead of 10.
- Piercing Arrow primary skillchain attribute is now Induration instead of Reverberation.
- Blast Arrow now has a chance to Stun.
Axe
- Raging Axe is obtained at skill level 5 instead of 10.
- Avalanche Axe has had its primary skillchain attribute changed from Scission to Induration. The secondary skillchain attribute (Impaction) has been removed.
- Spinning Axe has had it's tertiary skillchain attribute of Impaction removed.
- Decimation now ignores defense with the amount ignored varying with TP, with the effect previously being "accuracy varies with TP". The secondary skillchain attribute is now Detonation instead of Reverberation.
- Onslaught is now a five-hit Weapon Skill instead of one-hit.
- It's modifier is now STR instead of DEX.
- The duration of the Accuracy Down additional effect of Onslaught has been increased from 90 to 120 seconds.
- The Accuracy Down additional effect of Onslaught has been increased from -20 to -30.
Club
- The levels in which Starlight (now 40) and Seraph Strike (now 100) is learned at have been switched. Paladin now have access to this weapon skill.
Dagger
- Wasp Sting has been buffed to be about equal to Viper bite.
- Energy Drain reworked to drain haste from target.
Great Sword
- Scourge modifiers are now STR: 40% ; MND: 40% instead of STR: 40% ; VIT: 40%
- Scourge can now Critical Hit. At 3000% TP close to 100% chance.
- Scourge Aftermath effect has been changed from Critical Hit Rate to Critical Hit Damage +10%.
Marksmanship
- Blast Shot now has a chance to Stun.
Polearm
- Wheeling Thrust TP multiplier has been increased. - Update 1.1
- Skewer WS modifier has been increased. - Update 1.1
Scythe
- Nightmare Scythe now has chance of Terror on target.
Sword
- Swift Blade has swapped critical chance and accuracy effects.
Great Katana
- Tachi: Goten, Tachi: Jinpu and Tachi: Kagero have been changed to Hybrid and will now stack with Sneak Attack.
- The TP Multiplier (“ƒTP”) for Tachi: Yukikaze, Tachi: Gekko and Tachi: Kasha have been increased at both 1000 and 2000 TP. The exact amounts still need verifying - Version 1.2.
Spells and Magic
- Base MP recovery rate starts at 12. Each tick thereafter increases by four. This effect was originally 1 a tick.
- Certain jobs have a further increase to their base MP recovery rate upon reaching level 75.
- Red Mage: +1 for a total of 5 base MP recovery rate
- Black Mage: +2 for a total of 6 base MP recovery rate
- White Mage: +3 for a total of 7 base MP recovery rate
- Magic Bursts receive an extra +35 Magic Accuracy, +35 Magic Attack and reduced enmity generation, except on notorious monsters.

Ninjutsu
- Ichi elemental wheel spells are learnable at 12 but only useable from level 15.
- Ninjutsu Magic Bursts receive an extra +50 Magic Accuracy, +35 Magic Attack and reduced enimty generation, except on notorious monsters.
- The resistance down on an elemental ninjutsu is -30 regardless of the level of the ninjutsu. The resistance down lasts for 15 seconds, but can be potentially extended to 25 seconds through Merit Points.
- Elemental wheel spells receiving a total of +25 magic accuracy - Update 1.1
- All Ninjustu have +15 magic accuracy, with a further +10 for all elemental wheel spells (+25 m.acc total.) This effect is increased to +50 extra magic accuracy on magic bursts, on all non-notorious monsters.
- Hojo: Ni provides +40 cumulative enmity (CE) and +450 volatile enmity (VE). Essentially CE is halved and VE is doubled compared to retail/era.
- Kurayami: Ni provides +40 cumulative enmity (CE) and +450 volatile enmity (VE). Essentially CE is halved and VE is doubled compared to retail/era.
Weapons
- Octave Club has been changed to Work as the Kraken club
- Added Malignance Sword.
- Relic weapons: please review the Category:Relic Weapons page for a compleate list of know changes.
- Rune Chopper Had its Latent Effect: Haste reduced from 9% to 2%.
Thief
- Thief's Knife has been significantly changed and now providing +18 DMG and occassionally attacks 2 times on it.The original Treasure Hunter +1 effect can now be obtained via Nanaa's Charm.
Samurai
- Hagun Damage Nerf.
Ninja
- The recipes for Shuriken, Juji Shuriken, Manji Shuriken and Fuma Shuriken have been changed.
- These can now be bundled together in a pouch, each via a synthesis recipe.
Armor
- RoZ Rewards earrings all changed.
- CoP Rewards rings except Rajas Ring.
- Stealth Earring now has the enhances "Dual Wield" effect that Suppanomimi used to have.
- Added Shepherd's Armor Set for pet jobs.
- Speed Belt reduces to 5% haste.
- Armada Set gained small haste buff of +1~2% per piece.
- Many of the LVL 30 JSE Accessories for Subjobs were modified to attempt to offer more sub optional enhancements.
- Healer's Belt (/WHM)
- Pilferer's Belt (/THF)

- Most jobs Artifact Armor has had adjustments to the "Less desirable pieces" to have a small stat buff added to make them not entirely useless.
- All Artifact Weapons were changed to level 40, with some adjustments.
- Many Endgame armor pieces were modified from era (ie. Koenig Cuirass)
- Some Conquest items were changed.
- Exp Rings have been modified to provide more charges, reduce cooldowns etc. See page for further information.

Food
- Tuna Sushi and Fatty Tuna Sushi reworked to give positive stats to pets. - 01/20/2023
- Ikra Gunkan and its +1 version have been reworked to generally suit, but not limited to tanking roles.
Quests, Missions, & Battlefields
New Quests
- Fill In to obtain Nanaa's Charm

- Custom quest for the multi-nation Ducal Aketon.
Quest Updates
- Some quest cooldowns removed, allowing them to be repeated quickly.
- Chocobo's Wounds now only requires about one Vana'diel hour (2.5 minutes) between trades.
- Eco-Warrior (Bastok), Eco-Warrior (San d'Oria) and Eco-Warrior (Windurst) now yield 8k EXP upon completion.
Battlefields
- Multiple adjustments made to loot pools of various BCNM's. Notable changes are:

Crafting, Gathering, Fishing
- Many gathered items (such as ores) are stackable.
- Many 'NPC-able' recipes eg. Darksteel Picks have had their NPC price reduced.
- The delay between HELM attempts has been lowered by 1 second. - 01/06/2023
Chocobo Digging
- Now has visible skill-up messages when undertaking in the activity.
- Real life daily limit in place.
- Loot pools have been changed to increase the amount of profitable locations. - Version 1.1
Clamming
- Clamming loot pools have been reworked to make the activity more worthwhile.
Excavation
- Pools in Tahrongi Canyon, Maze of Shakhrami, Attohwa Chasm and Korroloka Tunnel have been adjusted to increase the value of harvesting. - Version 1.1
Fishing
- Fishing is only available once adventurers have obtained level 15.
- Fishing Pools respawn at set intervals, thought to be at the in-game time of: 00:00, 4:00, 6:00, 7:00, 17:00, 18:00 and 20:00, but needs verification.
Harvesting
- Pools in West Sarutabaruta and Giddeus have been adjusted to increase the value of harvesting. - Version 1.1
- May now be done in Beaucedine Glacier. - Version 1.1
Logging
- Pools in Buburimu Peninsula, Lufaise Meadows, Misareaux Coast, Yuhtunga Jungle and Yhoator Jungle have been adjusted to increase the value of logging. - Version 1.1
Mining
- Oldton Movalpolos and Newton Movalpolos Mining Points have had their item pools adjusted to increase the value of mining in these zones. - Version 1.1
Monsters
- Undead mobs spawn at 17:00 in-game time instead of 20:00.
- The monster family treants are now weak to slashing damage. - Patch 1.2 part 1
- The monster family morbols are now weak to slashing damage. - Patch 1.2 part 1
- The monster family funguars are now weak to slashing damage. - Patch 1.2 part 1
- The monster family crabs are now weak to blunt damage. - Patch 1.2 part 1
- The monster family uragnites are now weak to blunt damage. - Patch 1.2 part 1
Regular Mobs
- Mob distribution in some zones has been changed. Instances of both mobs being moved and/or removed.
- New mobs have been added to many zones to increase the amount of xping locations.
- Dungeon type mobs respawn time is 5 minutes, in line with outdoor zone respawn times.
Notorious Monsters
- The ??? for Forced Spawn notorious monsters have a respawn time of 5 minutes. As of Patch 1.2 part 1 "The respawn time of many ???s across the world has been lowered to 2 minutes. This includes many ???s used in end game content." It is currently unknown whether this change applies to some or all NM ??? pops.
- Various notorious monsters have claimshield in place.
Endgame
Sky
- Despot has a 2 hour cooldown (reduced) before the lottery re-opens. - Version 1.1
- Steam Cleaner has a 2 hour cooldown (reduced) before the lottery re-opens. - Version 1.1
- Zipacna respawns 2-3 hours (reduced) after its previous death. - Version 1.1
- Mother Globe respawns 2-3 hours (reduced) after its previous death. - Version 1.1
- Faust respawns 2-3 hours (reduced) after its previous death. - Version 1.1
- Curtana ??? respawns 2-3 hours (reduced) after being found. - Version 1.1
- Ullikummi is force spawned by trading a diorite to its corresponding ???. - Version 1.1
- Diorites drop from Aura Statues at a rate of 1%. - Version 1.1
- Kirin will always drop at least 1 abjuration. - Version 1.1
Limbus
- Cosmo-Cleanse can be obtained just short of every 72 hours. - Version 1.1
- The Armoury Crate spawned by defeating Proto-Ultima will now always drop a Silver Chip, Cerulean Chip, or Orchid Chip. - Version 1.1
- The damage of Proto-Ultima's Holy II has been increased. Version 1.1
- Citadel Buster will now always begin casting once Proto-Ultima reaches 20% health. - Version 1.1
Sea
- Ix'aern (Dark Knight) will not reraise itself more than 20 times per spawn. - Version 1.1
Dynamis
- The level range of monsters in Dynamis zones has been tightened and the maximum level range of Dynamis monsters has been increased. The purpose of this change is to make Dynamis monsters more challenging. - Version 1.1
- New NPC's added: Billrox, Bronzvox and Sheltrix. Each will convert one hundred pieces of Dynamis Currency into single pieces of currency. - Version 1.1
- Dynamis Lord now drops at least ONE 100 piece.
HNM
- Each of the 3 ground kings can spawn in multiple zones. "These monsters will now only spawn in one small area in each of the relative zones that they spawn in." - Update 06/04/2023

- All Auction Houses are linked and each player has a 21 item limit.
- Bazaar tax is set to 10% across the world.
- Yells only appear in the log whilst being inside a town or city zone.
- Items inside a players Storage can be accessed in Jeuno as well as their home nation.
- Mog Wardrobes 1 & 2 can be obtained via certain progress conditions. See the page for futher details. This wasn't available until well beyond Horizon's current era.
- Wardrobe 8 is now available but only for storing cosmetic items. - Version 1.2
- Mog Satchel is available by linking your discord and in-game character. See discord for more information.
- Players may have 2 linkshells equipped at the same time.
- Key items sort into 4 categories: Temporary Key Items, Permanent Key Items, Claim Slips and Magical Maps. These categories were only introduced in June 2007 source.
- Macro books were only introduced in November 2007 source.
- Beastmen/Kindred seals etc. weren't storable with Shami until September 2008 source.
- Mog house exit cutscenes are disabled and mog house home points are enabled.

- All Outpost Teleportation NPC's have been located in their era accurate positions. Their locations were adjusted in December 2008. source.

- Two new warp taru's have been added to Windurst Woods - Port Windurst. See Polo-Colo/Mumbo-Bumbo.
- The chocobo rental NPC's in Yhoator Jungle and Eastern Altepa Desert are out of era, only being introduced in June 2007! source
- Nomad Moogles in Selbina and Mhaura were only added in June 2008 source.

- Dynamis: CoP era with 71 hour lockout (reduced from 72), rumors state it is an entirely new system built by the devs from scratch.
- Claim Shield: Added to prominent NMs to provide a fair playing experience for all players. HorizonXI uses a lottery based claim shield system where each person has the opportunity to act on the mob once for a chance to claim the monster. After all players have acted and the claim window has closed, the monster will randomly select one person who acted on it and give them the claim. Multiple actions taken on a monster during the lottery do not increase your chances at claiming - each person can only enter the claim lottery once before the lottery window ends.
- Inventory Expansions: Mog Wardrobes 1 and 2, and Mog Satchel to be unlocked by completing certain objectives (see “System: Inventory Expansion” section below)
- Treasure Hunter: Era accurate (we used SE's official Treasure Hunter chart to build our system)
- Era accurate drop rates: Drop rates for all items have been adjusted to reflect the era experience more accurately
Verification Needed
- Counterstance reduces more defense than normal and doesn't give any positive buffs.
